Installations

I think, contemporary arts, installations in particular, oftentimes are something that artists create thinking that they will reflect the artists' views, thoughts and feelings. But they usually are not from the viewers' perspective. I am not sure if that is because of the artists' lack of skills, or the limitations of the media, or simply that the viewers are idiots.

So to fill the gap usually plenty of information is provided to explain the exhibits. You have to read leaflets and captions and even watch films to learn about the artists' intentions. The arts are not self-explanatory. I consider such arts failures. But I probably am an idiot.

(I have just been to a special exhibition at the Leeum Museum in Seoul).
